A Google for Startups chief reveals the one piece of advice she'd give to her younger self

Marta Krupinska is a serial entrepreneur with two major startup successes under her belt.

She built a successful social media website for travellers and expats before Facebook (FB) came onto the scene and went onto being a co-founder of fintech company Azimo in 2012, in which the team raised $70m in the process.

She is now charged with leading Google’s (GOOG) startup accelerator program, Google for Startups, in the UK, which is aimed at fostering a new slate of innovative new companies across the world.

Speaking with Yahoo Finance UK for its premium show Global Change Agents with Lianna Brinded, Krupinska shared her storied career and also her learnings on her path to success.

When asked what her one piece of advice she would give to her younger self would be, she said: “At the risk of it sounding banal: ‘believe in yourself.’”

“I have been incredibly fortunate to meet the right people,” she continued. “I have also worked incredibly hard but especially for those of us who don’t come from an incredible amount of wealth and privilege, there has been this voice in the back of my head, ‘you’re just a little girl from eastern Europe.’ I see now how far I’ve come, I see how much I owe it to my hard work and the support of people I have met.”
