Aaron Chalmers Exclusive: ‘It’s going to be an all out war at BAMMA 33’
Yahoo Sport’s Jade Morris caught up with Aaron Chalmers for an exclusive chat to talk about his upcoming fight as he is set to make his return at BAMMA 33.
Chalmers (2-0) is coming off the most incredible wins of his young career to date, revealed he will be facing Karl Donaldson in his hometown in Newcastle.
The Geordie Shore star has certainly shut down critics after his last fight which saw him knockout his opponent Alex Thompson in just 30 seconds.
“It was over before I knew it, we knew what was going to happen sooner or later, but the sooner the better for me, it was a flash and it was over, done. I’m happy get the job done quickly”
BAMMA & Bellator, joined forces to co-promote their return to Newcastle, to bring fans one of the UK’s biggest events of the year featuring some of the region’s biggest stars.
“There is a lot of good North East fighters on the card like Ryan Scope, Colin Fletcher I’m buzzing just to be on the same card as them and to be fighting in my hometown. It’s amazing. I never thought I would see the day where I would fight in my hometown especially the arena where I’ve been so many times.
Chalmers, was originally set to face another opponent, with Karl Donaldson stepping in as a late replacement after his previous opponent dropped out.
“The other opponent dropped out so I haven’t seen much of him, I hear he’s got a boxing background so he’s going to be a good striker we will have to look into him. I’ve heard he’s got a very good chin on him so he might not go down as easy as the last one but I’ve been training hard and he’s there he’s going to try and steal my thunder in Newcastle.
“I’ve been training specifically for him so the late change is only going to give me a couple of weeks to see what I’m up against. I think this kid might have fought a few weeks ago so he’s going to be in shape so I can’t take anyone lightly I think he’s going to come in there to try take my head of as I am him. It’s going to be an all out war.”
Chalmers, revealed he would also be interested in a boxing match up with former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand who recently announced he wanted to make the transition into Boxing.
“I think when it comes to boxing he’s only learning, whereas with MMA I had to learn a lot of different things in five weeks so I jumped in right at the deep end. He’s a sportsman he was was an England player so I’m going to support him and wish him all the best. I wouldn’t even mind a little boxing match with him but we will see, he’s a big lad as well so I wish him all the best because I’ve done the transition so I can only say good luck.”
Chalmers, will once again step into the cage on December 15th at the Metro Radio Arena and fight fans are guaranteed non-stop action.
“The fans should tune in it’s my hometown show there’s going to be a hell of a lot of noise coming out of that arena and if my last fight is anything to go by there is going to be fireworks and there is going to be another knockout.”
