Australia’s regular white-ball captain Aaron Finch has asserted that he isn’t in the know about the reported rifts between Australian players and head coach Justin Langer. He didn’t exclusively back the coach either, remaining tight-lipped on the turmoil in Australian cricket.

Finch was injured during the Aussies tour of Bangladesh, where they lost the T20I series in humiliating fashion, and so wasn’t at the scene where the alleged issues took place. Langer is known to be a hard task-master, but the current troubles need to be sorted out ahead of their Ashes assignment later on this year.

Speaking about the situation, Finch claimed that things are just being blown out of proportion since his team is currently going through a terrible phase on the cricketing front.

It’s a good question and I don’t know the answer to that. All I’ll say is when you lose, everything is magnified and everything is highlighted.

As everyone knows in sport, wins and losses are what counts and unfortunately we haven’t been up to the mark in the last eight-ten months,” he stated on Big Sports Breakfast.

Aaron Finch cites bubble fatigue as a possible reason for the issues

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the teams engaged in a series are confined to a bio-bubble. They aren’t allowed to go outside and regular tests are conducted to check if they have contracted the virus. This could be one of the reasons that have affected the morale of the team, as per Finch.

As I mentioned with the players on tour with bubble fatigue and guys not having any escape while you’re on tour, you’re locked into cricket mode almost 24/7 because you can’t get out and go for a coffee down the road or you can’t go out for dinner somewhere else.

You’re literally just confined to the hotel 24/7. When you’re just around cricket the whole time, that can consume you so you get a little bit of burnout from that as well. And when you’re losing that just adds multiple layers to it as well,” Aaron Finch added.

Australia lost the T20I series 1-4 to Bangladesh which only escalated the problems in the dressing room. Several players had also pulled out of the tour in order to stay with their families.
