Aaron Ramsey is available on a free transfer after having his contract with Juventus terminated.

Ramsey joined Juventus in 2019 after running down his deal with Arsenal. During his time in north London, he had stood out over 262 Premier League appearances. However, his switch to Serie A never really worked out.

Injuries have held him back somewhat, but there has been a lack of impact in general from Ramsey in Turin.

He spent the second half of last season on loan with Rangers, but missed a crucial spot kick in the penalty shootout they lost against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League final.

Upon his return to his parent club, Ramsey was omitted from pre-season training and was not assigned a squad number for the upcoming season.

Indeed, it has now been confirmed that he will be spending it elsewhere. Both parties have agreed to rip up his contract with Juventus, which should have lasted for one more year.

Juventus tweeted from their English account: “OFFICIAL | Aaron Ramsey’s contract with Juventus has been mutually terminated. All the best, @aaronramsey!”

The Wales international was earning wages in the region of £400,000 per week from Juventus. However, that was not sustainable for them given his lack of productivity.

He will leave Juventus with just 69 appearances behind him from three years on the books. Within that time, he contributed six goals and the same number of assists.

During his six-month stint with Rangers, he amassed 13 appearances, two goals and two assists.

Where next for Aaron Ramsey?

Now, Ramsey will be on the lookout for a new club to sign for at the age of 31. It will be important for the former Cardiff City star to get his gametime up again ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

According to the Press Association, Ramsey has suitors in the MLS. By making such a move, he could follow in the footsteps of compatriot Gareth Bale, who joined LAFC after leaving Real Madrid.

However, the news agency relays that Ramsey would prefer a Premier League return closer to his Cardiff home.

Only time will tell where the Welshman ends up, but he will be hoping his next venture goes better than his time with Juventus did.
