Carlisle boss Greg Abbott is excited about kicking off the 2012/13 season with a trip to Stevenage.
The Cumbrians will begin a league campaign with an away fixture for the first time since 2008 at the Lamex Stadium on August 18 - renewing acquaintances with the side that narrowly edged them out of a play-off spot last season.
"That's a great fixture to kick things off with," Abbott told his club's official website. "Both sides will want to push on from what they achieved last season and we will go there looking to do things properly."
"We've had a run of home games to kick things off over the last few years but we don't really think about that. It doesn't really matter who you play, or when, because we all know we have 46 games to get through. It's about hitting the right note and aiming for consistency from the moment the first whistle is blown.
"I'm really looking forward to it now, and I'm sure the players are the same. It's always good to see the fixture list. There are quite a few in there which the fans will be really looking forward to and the excitement starts to build for us all from here.
"Like I say, we just want to get the momentum going so that we can have a real go at doing something really special this time round."
