Abia Warriors can end in top three, says Yaqub

The newly employed coach of the Warriors has tasked his players to better their showing in their next friendly match

Abia Warriors' hopes of claiming a top-three finish in the Nigeria Professional Football League is 'intact', according to Hammed Yaqub.

The Ucendu Babes are sixth in the topflight table with 28 points from 19 games, six points below leaders Plateau United.

And the winger believes that the chances of the Umuahia Township Stadium outfit to take one of the three continental spots are alive.

"We have gathered 28 points in 19 matches. Now it's going to be a fight to finish," Yaqub told Goal.

"At the moment there's every reason to believe and it's even logical to do so. Our continental dream is intact. We can end up in top three.

"All players want to do better, this team is improving slowly and alternating good performances with negative ones. We can only work and try to reach our objectives. We want to give our fans something to cheer at the end of the campaign," he concluded.
