Accrington Stanley striker Josh Woods said his "dreams came true" after the League Two side were drawn to face Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup.

Liverpool hosts Accrington Stanley at Anfield on the weekend of Jan 11-12, and while it's expected that their FA Cup run will end, it could be a career-defining moment for the majority of the squad. Woods, 24, is a striker for Accrington Stanley, but is a boyhood Liverpool fan and will get to play at Anfield in front of the Kop for the first time.

Woods watched the FA Cup draw live with his family, and his brother Connor filmed the live reaction. The wholesome video saw the Woods family celebrate wildly after the draw was made, with Josh screaming "yes" while jumping around in the living room.

The video instantly went viral with Liverpool fans showing him a lot of love as he reposted the clip and wrote: "Dreams do come true wow." Things became even more surreal when Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate left a comment, writing: "Let's go!"

Woods instantly replied to Konate, writing: "See you soon big man." Woods has scored three goals in 12 appearances for Accrington Stanley this season, after earning a contract extension with the club.

The 24-year-old started his career at non-league club Marine, who are based nearby in Crosby, Merseyside. He later signed a one-year contract with Accrington Stanley in 2021, but has seen his deal extended after impressing at the club.

The upcoming game will mark only the second time in history that Liverpool has faced Accrington Stanley, with the only previous meeting occurring before the club was reformed. The formerly known Accrington FC were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool in the third round of the FA Cup back in 1958.

Liverpool and Accrington Stanley couldn't be much further apart in the four professional English soccer leagues, with the Reds top of the pyramid as they lead the Premier League by nine points. Accrington Stanley is 19th in League Two, and currently facing a relegation battle to survive in the Football League.

Accrington Stanley has just four wins in 16 league games this season, and just one win in the last five. However, drawing Liverpool will likely lift team morale and potentially change their fortunes this season.

Liverpool has won every cup game this season, reaching the quarterfinal of the League Cup and winning all five Champions League games. The only two games they haven't won this season; a freak 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest before a 1-1 draw away to Arsenal.
