Brendan Rodgers has delivered good news over skipper Callum McGregor - but he faces a wait over Adam Idah's fitness.

The Celtic skipper missed out the 3-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park but his boss is hopeful he can be involved in some capacity under the lights at Parkhead against Dundee but if not certainly in time for the Premier Sports Cup semi-final showdown with Aberdeen at Hampden. However, he faces a wait and see job over £9million striker Idah after he was on the end of a what he describes as a 'poor challenge' from Liam Gordon on Sunday afternoon.

Influential defender Cameron Carter-Vickers also tasted action after climbing off the bench as he steps up his return while Greg Taylor was another named in the matchday squad - although he never came off the bench. Speaking about the quartet to Celtic TV, Rodgers said: "We obviously got through the game yesterday with a really good performance and result. We are obviously analysing and looking at one or two of the guys that had some knocks.

"Callum [McGregor], we are just waiting to hear back. But we think that is good news with him. Adam Idah was on the end of a poor challenge. We just have to wait and see. He's still got his foot in a boot at the moment but we are hoping he has got away with that.

"Cameron Carter-Vickers came in and got some game time which was good for him. He needs to build up that match fitness and obviously Greg Taylor was on the bench. Didn't feature but it makes hopefully a lot of them available for Wednesday and we will see about one or two others."

He continued: "I think for the likes of Cam. Some of the injuries he's had it isn't muscle injuries, it is just innocuous ones that have been in his foot and been an issue for him. For Callum, the wear and tear of playing so many games. It won't do him any harm to miss out a game. He is so consistent and such a committed player.

"You know if there is a niggle with him it really has to be something that is quite sore for him not to be involved. But we are hopeful it is just a case of that fatigue of putting so much in.

"I think you seen his numbers that he has covered the most ground of any player in the Champions League. It tells you how much work he is putting in. We are hopeful he can be involved in some part Wednesday but if not definitely Saturday."
