The Rangers might have to wait until the end of April for their star third baseman to return to the lineup.
Expected to return this past weekend,Adrian Beltre suffered a setback in his return from a right calf strain and underwent an MRI on Tuesday. Beltrefelt renewed tightness in hiscalf Saturday while attempting to run.
Beltre has grade 1 strain in right calf...rangers are going to be more conservative this time which means he will be out for some time— TR Sullivan (@Sullivan_Ranger) April 12, 2017
Luckily for the Rangers, Nomar Mazara has been filling in fabulously in the heart of the order, but the Rangers still aren't the same without Beltre.
An officialinjury updatefrom the Rangers is expected Wednesday.
After lackluster power numbers in 2014 and 2015, Beltre returned to his dangerous form last season, when he hit .300 with 32 home runs and 100 RBIs.
Joey Gallo, 23, hasstarted at third base while Beltre recovers. Gallo has long been one of Texas' top prospects and is finally playing like it with two homers and seven RBIs through six games.
