Anyone can go on Twitter and opine about an NFL team’s offseason moves. That’s the beauty of social media.
But when it’s Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson randomly chiming in on the New York Giants, that’s certainly a little more interesting than Ronnie from Denver saying the Broncos need to trade for Tony Romo.
Peterson could become a free agent soon. He has a huge $18 million cap number in 2017, and the Vikings could decide to move on. Peterson hasn’t been shy about the possibility of him being cut. He listed the Giants among the teams he would like to play for if he was let go. Then, on Wednesday evening, for no apparent reason …
The Giants been making some interesting moves.

Well, that’s something. It was Peterson’s first tweet since Feb. 5, for whatever that’s worth. The Giants can’t say anything about Peterson, because he’s under contract with the Vikings. But it’s not like Peterson can be charged with tampering.
The Giants made two significant moves this week. They cut receiver Victor Cruz. That cleared $7.5 million in cap space. They also cut running back Rashad Jennings, which cleared $2.5 million more in cap room and got rid of their leading rusher from last season. It’s easy to connect some dots.
The Giants had a horrendous running game last season. Peterson missed most of last season with a knee injury and is going to turn 32 in March, but he’s still one of the all-time greats and only a season removed from winning a rushing title.
The Giants should be interested in Peterson, if he gets cut. And Peterson seems to be doing his passive aggressive best to make sure the Giants know he would be interested in them, as well.
