Adriano Moraes to Defend ONE Flyweight Title Against Kairat Akhmetov in Beijing

Adriano Moraes is set to make the second defense of his flyweight title when he takes on Kairat Akhmetov at ONE: Dynasty of Champions. The event is set for the Beijing Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium on Nov. 21. More details about it were revealed at a press conference on Tuesday.

ONE Championship has teamed up with Chinese company Wujie and unveiled ambitious plans to put on 26 events in China over the course of the next two years. The first of these takes place next month and sees the undefeated Akhmetov make his promotional debut.

Akhmetov (22-0) is the Alash Pride 125-pound champion and has won every MMA fight of his career to date. The Kazakh has been handed an immediate title shot and will be looking to follow in the foosteps of compatriot Igor Svirid by becoming a ONE Championship titleholder.

He is going up against Moraes (13-1), who has emerged as one of the organization’s brightest stars. The Brazilian captured the belt by submitting Geje Eustaquio and then followed that with a hard fought decision win over Asuka Mikami.

The show will be headlined by a featherweight unification match between Naruntungalag Jadambaa and Marat Gafurov. The two were originally slated to fight in Jakarta last month, but the Mongolian was denied entry to Indonesia and the Russian won an interim version of the title.

There will also be a four-man featherweight tournament for Chinese fighters. The four semifinalists are Zhang Jia Cai, Qiao Long Fei, Yang Sen, and Ala Teng Bu Ri Ge De. The winners will face off on the same night.
