Manchester United’s hopes of signing Adrien Rabiot appear to have hit another potential stumbling block due to a demand from the player’s mum, who is also his agent.
The Red Devils have already agreed a £15.2million fee with Juventus to sign the midfielder, with Juve more than happy to let Rabiot move on after three years in Turin.
United have turned to Rabiot after seeing a proposed move for Frenkie de Jong completely fall through.
However, a report emerged earlier on Thursday per Gianluca Di Marzio that Juve have stunned United by requesting Anthony Martial as part of the deal.
And now Sportmediaset, claims negotiations over personal terms are proving to be an issue.
It is reported that Veronique Rabiot will have direct contact with United by Friday. However, she is asking for a salary higher than the £6million-a-year that her son is currently earning in Turin.
For their part, Juve are hopeful that a deal is concluded as quickly as possible.
The 27-year-old is not in the plans of Max Allegri for the new campaign. Indeed, Juventus have handed youngster Nicolo Fagioli a new four-year contract to effectively take his place in the team.
The report adds that Rabiot‘s patience is wearing thin and he no longer has the desire to continue in Turin.
His current contract expires in 2023 and a move to United would prevent Juve losing the player for nothing.
Rabiot keen on deal after Ten Hag chats
ESPN adds that Rabiot has appreciated direct contact from Erik ten Hag over the phone and wants the move.
Ten Hag is after new recruits following United’s embarrassing home loss to Brighton in their season opener.
The Red Devils chief also hopes to complete a deal for PSV forward Cody Gakpo in the very near future.
The talented attacker is set to cost in the region of £35million and the transfer has taken a big step forward after the player made up his mind over a move.
Elsewhere, United have also been linked with giant Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic, who is available for £20m.
Ten Hag is on the hunt for forward options as doubts continue to surround Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.
The Red Devils are next in action on Saturday eveing when they head to Brentford in the Premier League.
