AFC Leopards have yet again failed to beat Western Stima after a 1-1 draw at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Saturday.

With the draw, AFC Leopards have squandered a chance to go top of the KPL table temporarily. They are also awaiting the Sunday match pitting Gor Mahia and Kariobangi Sharks.

This is the third draw between the sides in their last six matches with the Kisumu-based side enjoying two wins while Ingwe have one victory within the same period.

Ingwe now have 11 points from six matches while Western Stima are seventh with one fewer point.

Baron Oketch scored the first goal of the match in favour of Western Stima before Tresor Ndikumana equalized for the hosts deep in the second half.

Ingwe took long to settle and were almost punished in the eighth-minute by Villa Oruchum but were saved by a raised off-side flag.

Ndikumana would have pulled one back for Ingwe in the 14th minute after he ran and met Isaac Kipyegon's pinpoint pass but his final shot slid just wide as Samuel Abawa fully stretched to reach for the ball.

Oketch was denied by Benjamin Ochan in the 20th minute with Ingwe failing to guard and clear their area as Western Stima upped the tempo in search of an opener.

It took the Powermen just a minute to get the ball at the back of the net after they were denied by the Ugandan goalkeeper. Oketch made an ambitious run along the left-wing and successfully slotted past Ingwe's custodian for a deserved lead.

Oruchum was unfortunate again as he managed to create his own space but his effort went off target inside AFC Leopards area in the 25th minute.

With 59% ball possession, Ingwe failed to make their chances count as the teams went in for the half-time break with the visitors leading.

Abawa denied Makwatta and Were in the 72nd minute as he punched the ball back into play as Makwatta attempted to find the bottom corner initially. The ball landed on Were's feet but even the winger could not slot past him from the follow-up effort.

The former Tusker goalkeeper parried the ball yet again not far from his area but was lucky as his defenders cleared the mess quickly.

Ndikumana scored Ingwe's goal in the 86th minute when he tapped in the ball after Abawa spilt it from Makwatta's free-kick.
