AFC Wimbledon begin life under new boss Johnnie Jackson at home to Gillingham on July 30 as both clubs adjust back to League Two.

The Dons are hoping to make their second fourth-tier stint a short one, with interim boss Mark Bowen - who has since departed to return to a director role at Reading - unable to prevent them from suffering a first relegation since their formation in 2002 after a dramatic defeat by Accrington Stanley on the final day.

Most of the damage was done under Mark Robinson, with Wimbledon ending last season on a horrendous 27-match winless run - the worst since Derby’s dismal Premier League campaign of 2007/08.

With Bowen gone, Wimbledon have turned to Charlton legend Jackson, whose exit from The Valley after 12 years last month following only a short-lived spell as the permanent manager came as a considerable surprise.

Trips to Hartlepool, Mansfield, Crawley and newly-promoted Stockport are all on tap for Wimbledon in the early weeks of the new season, with home contests against Doncaster, Barrow, Leyton Orient and Northampton.

They host Newport on Boxing Day and then head to Colchester before beginning 2023 with a short trip to Sutton on New Year’s Day. Wimbledon end the season at National League play-off winners Grimsby on May 6.

Unlike the Premier League and Championship, there will be no break or pause for Leagues One and Two during the inaugural Winter World Cup in Qatar later this year.
