The 2022 Africa Cup of Nations promises to be a showcase of some of world football’s finest talent, with a number of players being kept particularly close tabs on.

The likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham are all invested in this month’s tournament with transfer targets and youth prospects in action.

It all gets underway on Sunday with hosts Cameroon and holders Algeria, plus Senegal, Egypt and the Ivory Coast, tipped to challenge for the title.

Here, we detail three star players being watched by capital clubs this month...

Franck Kessie - AC Milan and Ivory Coast

The midfielder has been a key part of Milan’s resurgence, scoring five times in Serie A already this season after hitting 13 league goals last year.

Regularly linked with Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks, the 25-year-old is out of contract this summer.

Part of a talented Senegal squad, the midfielder was signed by Spurs last year from Metz and then sent back on loan to the French side, where he has featured in all but one of their league games so far this season.

The tournament will give a clue as to whether the 19-year-old is ready to step into Antonio Conte’s squad in the summer.

Youssef En-Nesyri - Sevilla and Morocco

The striker scored 24 goals for Sevilla last season and was the subject of a failed bid from West Ham last January, as David Moyes sought a replacement for Sebastian Haller.

Injuries mean he is yet to match that form this term, but the 24-year-old has still been touted as a potential option in Arsenal’s striker search.
