Erling Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, thinks the Manchester City centre-forward could command a fee of €1 billion (approx. £890m) in today’s transfer market.

Pimenta, who took over Mino Raiola’s agency One following his death last year, does not see the current transfer market cooling any time soon.

Haaland is arguably the best striker in world football at the moment, so it wouldn’t be a surprise for a record fee to be required for his services.

The Norway international has been in outstanding form for the Cityzens this season, netting 26 goals in 23 Premier League appearances so far.

Indeed, Haaland has arguably been Pep Guardiola’s most important player, as City continue their push for their seventh league title since 2012.

However, there has been some speculation that Haaland is looking for a way out of the Etihad, after the Premier League mounted charges against City for allegedly breaking financial fair play rules.

The Premier League champions will likely do everything they can to keep hold of their star striker, so a ginormous bid would be required for Haaland even if he does want to leave, as reported.

There are only a handful of clubs with the financial backing required to pull off such a deal, so it could be interesting to see if anyone comes in for him in the summer.

Pimenta slaps  €1bn valuation on Haaland

In an interview with French TV Channel TF1’s Telefoot programme, Pimenta said: “Erling Haaland is worth €1 billion. That’s not a guess, I’m sure of it.

“They might say I’m being ridiculous, that a club is not going to pay a billion, but his age, his quality, his progression and the way he behaves is why I talk about a billion.

“The future is unknown, but it’s coming.”

For now, Haaland’s sole focus will be on helping Manchester City to another league title, but Guardiola’s team have a big challenge on their hands.

After drawing 1-1 with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, City now have a two-point gap to close with league-leaders Arsenal, who have also played one game less than the champions.

As mentioned, Haaland has already netted a stunning 26 goals in the Premier League this season, but the Norweigan will have to keep up his scoring form if they want to close the gap.

In terms of his future, Barcelona have previously registered an interest in the player, but given their financial situation it would be unlikely that they could afford him this summer.

In reality, the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain or maybe even Newcastle are the only teams who could pull off such a mega-money switch, so it will be interesting to see if they table an offer.
