Ahead of Ronda Rousey Bout, Bethe Correia Inks Lengthy New UFC Deal

Just a few weeks removed from her UFC bantamweight title challenge of Ronda Rousey, No. 7 ranked women's 135-pounder Bethe Correia has inked a new longterm contract.

Correia took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal the news.

“I am very happy! Through hard work, blood, sweat, punches in the face, and more … I am renewing my contract with UFC for 8 more fights,” she wrote. “I can give my fans at least eight fights on television, and follow my life and my camp for another eight fights. I will give my best ever!”

Correia, of course, hopes to do so as the UFC women's bantamweight champion. Having amassed an undefeated record of 9-0, Correia won fights over women's MMA pioneer Julie Kedzie, as well as Rousey's teammates Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler, en route to earning her title shot.

There has been a lot of bad blood between Correia and Rousey, most recently due to a suicide reference that the Brazilian threw Rousey's way in some comments that she says were misconstrued, and for which she has since apologized.

Rousey will defend her belt against Correia in the main event of UFC 190 on Aug. 1 in Rio de Janeiro.
