Aidan Borland compared to Real Madrid hero as ex Celtic starlet makes Aston Villa debut
Aidan Borland had Aston Villa fans purring after his debut for the first-team - with one comparing the Scots kid to Luka Modric.
The former Celtic starlet made his first appearance for Villa during their 2-1 EFL Cup win over Wycombe Wanderers in what was also his professional debut. The midfielder, 17, replaced £50million man Amadou Onana with 30 minutes or so on the clock and put in a shift.
Fans seemed to love the impact their £300,000 signing made on the game and were full of praise on social media after full-time. One punter even made comment that his approach to the game reminded him of Real Madrid's Croatian superstar before acknowledging the lofty praise.

One fan wrote: "Been very impressed with Aidan Borland. Looks a right little player!" Another commented: "There's a proper player there in young Aidan Borland," as a third wrote: "Aidan Borland can be very proud of his performance on debut. Very neat and assured on the ball".
One added: "I liked Borland a lot... very tidy. Reminds me of Modric (I know I know)," as another comparison was made - perhaps less hyped - with a fan saying: "Some similarities to the young Barry Bannan….under our present management he could go far!"
