Wycombe caretaker player-manager Gareth Ainsworth described his team's display as 'superb'

Gareth Ainsworth hailed Wycombe as they beat high-flying Fleetwood 1-0 to claim their third consecutive victory.

On-loan QPR youngster Bruno Andrade scored the only goal of the game after just nine minutes to hand the caretaker boss a crucial three points.

Ainsworth was delighted with the performance, in particular the way his players had stuck with the game plan. He said: "It's easy to motivate but to see the tactics come out and working so well is fantastic. We've worked very hard on the training ground over the past few weeks and we're seeing that come to fruition."

He added: "We could have scored a few. We like to hit teams on the counter and we've done that. Bruno scored a great goal but there were plenty of other chances. It was a superb performance."

Fleetwood boss Micky Mellon felt his side had been well below their best.

He said: "There are a lot of players out there who haven't taken part or hit the levels that we would expect.

"We didn't pass the ball well. I don't think we were anywhere near imaginative enough in the final third.

"We gave it away too cheaply and allowed them to counter attack. All over the place I think we weren't good enough, for reasons unknown to ourselves because we've been in good form.

"That's football sometimes. It was a good early goal but we didn't react enough. It didn't galvanise us, get us angry or get us upset which maybe has to happen if you're going to kick start yourself.

"Too many players have accepted it and waited for somebody else to spark us. I'm very disappointed. It wasn't like us at all."
