Alabama DB Deionte Thompson among suspects in Texas assault, report says

Thompson and three others are named in warrants accusing them of felony aggravated assault stemming from a spring-break incident in Texas.

Alabama safety Deionte Thompson, 20, is among four men named in felonyarrest warrants issued in Texas for the assault of a man at a beach over spring break, Beaumont TV stationKBMTreported.

Thompson, a rising redshirt sophomore, and the three othersare wanted on charges of felony aggravated assault.

Noah Frillou, 18, was severely beaten and knocked unconscious March 18 at Crystal Beach, near Galveston, KBMT reported, adding that he suffered broken bones in his face and a concussion.

Thompson, a former four-star recruit from West Orange-Stark High School, was a standout on special teams last season for the national runner-up Crimson Tide, tying for the team lead with eight tackles on kickoff coverage.

TideSports.com reportedThompson's father, Vester, tweeted a defense of his son Thursday evening, writing in part: “Just wait until you hear the truth. Trust me, the key word in the case is ALABAMA.” The tweet appears to have been deleted.
