Alan Pardew's West Bromwich Albion future hangs by a thread

Alan Pardew’s future as manager of West Bromwich Albion is dangles by a thread after his side’s latest defeat, a 2-1 home reverse against Huddersfield Town that leaves his team seven points adrift of safety and rooted to the bottom of the table.

Albion’s owners have already been considering potential replacements for Pardew, as revealed by The Independent earlier this week, and would have seen little at the Hawthorns to convince them to keep on the former Newcastle and Crystal Palace boss, with fans chastising both the players and Pardew as David Wagner’s side secured a vital away win.

“You’re not fit to wear the shirt” rained down from the stands before the locals loudly, angrily predicted Pardew would be “sacked in the morning.”

And the 56-year-old coach conceded: "There's no point me defending myself or defending my players. We've got to stand up.”

"At the moment we’ve got to kind of find a way, whichever way it is, to win a game and my job is to try and get ourselves up for next week and win away from home and that’s what we will try to do."

“This was our opportunity today to try and get us rolling. Of course we've let that slip.

"Unfortunately we can't wind the clock back and as much as I can say this or make excuses about that, we've lost a game against Huddersfield today.”
