Alan Pardew to be interviewed for West Brom manager job following the sacking of Tony Pulis

West Brom will interview Alan Pardew about becoming the club's next manager following the sacking of Tony Pulis on Monday.

Pulis was removed from the post after nearly three years in charge having won only two Premier League games this season. The club are moving swiftly to appoint a successor and the Independent understands Pardew is among the candidates for the role.

Nicky Hammond, West Brom's technical director, has been put in charge of the recruitment process by the club's Chinese owner Lai Guochuan.

Pardew has previously worked with Hammond, who was the director of football at Reading when he managed the Berkshire club. Pardew tried to bring Hammond, a former goalkeeper, to Crystal Palace during his two-year spell at Selhurst Park.

West Brom have made it clear that they would prefer a manager with Premier League experience to help improve the team's fortunes, and Pardew appears to fit that remit having led West Ham, Charlton and Newcastle in the top flight before Palace.

On Tuesday Pulis spoke out for the first time following his sacking, insisting he was proud of his record at the Hawthorns.
