England cruised past Albania in Tirana to take control of World Cup qualifying Group I this evening.
Harry Kane ended his international goal drought, scoring in an England shirt for the first time since November 2019, to open the scoring and then set up Mason Mount to double the lead after the restart.
It was an efficient performance from the Three Lions in a fixture made more difficult by a slow pitch, and means Gareth Southgate’s side have taken maximum points from their two games, having thumped San Marino in midweek.
With Poland to visit Wembley on Wednesday, Southgate’s men will have the chance to take a big step towards the 2022 World Cup in Qatar even at this early stage, before all attention shifts to this summer’s European Championships.
