Alexander Isak injury rocks Newcastle United at Crystal Palace as striker leaves pitch in pain
Newcastle United were rocked after just 21 minutes at Selhurst Park after £63million man Alexander Isak came off injured in the capital. It remains to be seen if the injury withdrawal has any major implications for Isak but things did not look great for the centre-forward as he trudged off.
The Sweden international had enjoyed just three touches of the football before his afternoon was curtailed by a challenge from Tyrick Mitchell. Within minutes of the collision, Isak was clutching his hip and unable to run around freely.
After getting treatment, with Callum Wilson sent for a warm-up, Isak tried to run off the knock. However, as Joelinton was being attended to for a shoulder injury, Isak went down in agony and signalled to the bench to come off.

With Wilson still nowhere near match fit to play 70 minutes of a game, Harvey Barnes was sent on to replace the Swedish star. That saw Barnes make a rare switch to the right and Anthony Gordon used through the centre.
Having just got Wilson back available, Howe could now be dealing with another lay off for Isak just as the congested December period kicks in. Isak has already missed seven matches for club and country this season due to a toe injury after being rushed back.
Groin problems affected his campaign last time around with Newcastle seemingly unable to get their strongest XI on the pitch for a sustained period of time. Both Joelinton and Joe Willock also suffered knocks in the first half with Newcastle looking fragile in the early stages at Selhurst Park to say the least.
