Arsenal know that they have a huge job on their hands if they want to claw back some of the deficit to current Premier League table-toppers Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta's side are currently nine points adrift of Arne Slot's men at the summit and have struggled in recent weeks. The Gunners have had to deal with their fair share of injuries this season, with Martin Odegaard a notable absentee, not to mention England's Bukayo Saka for a shorter time period.

Arsenal might rue their decision not to bring in a striker during the latest summer transfer window, while two of the names linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium have sent key figures a timely reminder.

The Gunners were repeatedly linked with Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak this summer, although a move would not come to fruition. The Swedish striker is one of the hottest talents in the Premier League, playing a key role in the Magpies' renaissance under Eddie Howe.

Fellow Swedish strike partner, Viktor Gyokeres, is another in-form striker linked with a move to north London. The Sporting star has been heavily linked with the likes of Manchester United after former Sporting head coach Ruben Amorim took over at Old Trafford.

The race is on to secure his services, although any interested parties might have to wait until next summer with a reported 'gentleman's agreement' in place between Gyokeres and Sporting.

Both Isak and Gyokeres were among the goals during November's international break, with the latter scoring four goals against Azerbaijan in the Nations League. That took his tally to five goals in just two games, after scoring the opener against Slovakia earlier on in the November gap.

Gyokeres then turned provider for Isak - with the Newcastle frontman scoring the winner in the second half. Both players took to social media to celebrate their impressive run of form.

Isak shared four pictures from the recent matches with yellow and blue love heart emojis as the caption, while Gyokeres shared similar images on to his own Instagram page.

Both strikers are currently reminding Arteta what his side are missing; a proven goal-scorer to boost the push for a Premier League title. Kai Havertz has been Arteta's go-to man up front this season, with four goals and one assist in the top-flight so far this season.

Although neither make direct reference to Arsenal, or transfer speculation, in their social media posts, it's clear Isak and Gyokeres aren't letting uncertainty about their futures get in the way of their goal-scoring exploits.
