Alexandro Bernabei 'in talks' over Celtic loan transfer as Independiente plot swoop

Alexandro Bernabei is reportedly in talks with Independiente over a loan move as he gets set to cut short his Internacional deal.

The defender has been in Brazil since agreeing a move back in March which is believed to have marked his final game as a Celtic player with playing time limited and the club searching for another left-back. Greg Taylor has established himself as the number one pick in that spot and Bernabei opted to leave for Brazil.

Now, though, it has emerged from reports in Argentina that he's set to leave his current stint and make another short-term move to his home country with one of old club Lanus' rivals.

A report from journalist Matias Martinez on X claims Celts are in discussions with Independiente with a conversation opened as they look to add the 23-year-old to their ranks.

An exit clause was inserted in his initial switch which will be triggered that is in effect between August 1 and August 7.

The same report also suggests that the player would be keen to make the swap after struggling for minutes at Internacional.
