Alexis Mac Allister has dropped a hint he could be in the Liverpool matchday squad for this afternoon's game against Chelsea. The midfielder has been an injury concern after being substituted at half time against Crystal Palace before the break with an adductor problem.

However, he did join up with Argentina, sitting out the game against Venezuela before playing 66 minutes of the nation’s 6-0 win over Bolivia in the early hours of Thursday. Upon his return to Liverpool, the midfielder was absent for first team training, but the ECHO understands that he instead took part in a gym session away from the main group.

But Mac Allister’s activity on social media hints that he could be fit for this afternoon's game at Anfield. The midfielder has posted a graphic for the game on his Instagram story, which is often done by players expecting to be involved in the game.

The Argentine has started every Premier League and Champions League game under Arne Slot so far this season. He scored his only goal of the campaign so far in the 2-0 Champions League win over Bologna.

Liverpool, however, will definitely be without Alisson and Harvey Elliott for the game. The former is recovering from a hamstring injury suffered in the win over Palace, while the latter is stepping up his return from a fractured foot.

Kostas Tsimikas is also a doubt after suffering a knock while on international duty with Greece. As is Federico Chiesa, who did not train with the main group in the build-up to the game.
