If Alexis Mac Allister was in control of Liverpool transfers, Reds supporters might very well see his brother Kevin Mac Allister line-up alongside him. That is at least what the midfielder has teased he would like to happen on social media.

World Cup winner Mac Allister has been nothing short of sensational in both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot's systems at Anfield since his £35m transfer in the summer of 2023. The Reds were in dire need of inspiration and somebody with the ability to complete multiple tasks in the engine room, and he quickly proved to be the best answer.

His arrival marked the start of a rebuild of the Liverpool team once the Premier League and Champions League-winning group Klopp had first assembled began to disband. Now Slot has the reins, and though things are looking great right now, the Dutchman will know his squad requires further chopping and changing in the years to come.

One area he and sporting director Richard Hughes may look at is the defence. Virgil van Dijk is a possible big name departure in that department with contract renewal talks still ongoing, Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the same boat and left-back Andy Robertson has reached 30.

And now Mac Allister, at least jokingly, has thrown his older brother Kevin's name into the ring as a potential recruit.

The Reds' No.10 posted a 27th birthday message to Instagram on Thursday that read: "Happy birthday brother! Have a great day and always be happy!"

Supporters will remember the heartwarming moment Liverpool's Mac Allister met his kin, who plays for Belgian team Union Saint-Gilloise, in last season's Europa League group stages. Using a picture of them both from that game, he also wrote: "Here is to more moments like this (or on the same team)," accompanied with the 'silly face' emoji.

The two have actually been a part of the same club in the past on two occasions, growing through the youth ranks of Argentinos Jrs and later sharing six months together at Boca Juniors. Their careers strayed when Alexis earned his breakthrough transfer to Brighton, and Kevin would later join him in Europe at USG, who under the same ownership as the Seagulls.

The Reds would no doubt not want to lose their key midfielder, so it may be on them rather than USG to make this dream a reality, at least in the present day.
