Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson has provided a worrying injury update after missing Saturday's victory over Bournemouth.

The Reds shot-stopper was a surprise omission from Arne Slot's squad to face the Cherries at Anfield, having featured in all five previous games so far this season, keeping three clean sheets and conceding just two goals.

Back-up keeper Caoimhin Kelleher deputized in the Brazilian's absence for his first appearance of the campaign, and did himself justice with an impressive string of saves to help keep a clean sheet in the 3-0 triumph to see Liverpool return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Reds manager Slot confirmed before the game that Alisson missed Thursday’s training session and his condition would be checked by the club’s medical team to determine whether he can participate in Friday’s workout, yet he was ultimately deemed unfit to feature against Bournemouth.

There was no update from the Dutchman after the game, yet Alisson gave one himself with a concerning post on social media. Taking to Instagram, the 31-year-old snapped a POV of him sitting on his sofa in front of the TV with a medical device on his legs.

The device is primarily known to help circulate the blood in Alisson's legs, boosting recovery in the muscle that will hopefully lead to a quicker return for the goalkeeper. However, it doesn't look too easy on the eye for Reds fans who aren't familiar with the piece of equipment.

Slot will now be expected to provide a more thorough update on the condition of his No. 1 in the coming days as Liverpool prepares for a quick return to action against West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

However, Alisson will not be expected to feature, especially given Kelleher was expected to start this fixture regardless of whether the Brazilian was fit or not. It also provides extra opportunity for Alisson to get back up to speed ahead of next weekend's Premier League clash with Wolves.

Even then, he may still not be able to play a part, and it would be no surprise to see him left out once more, with Slot potentially targeting Alisson's comeback in the following midweek game against Bologna in the Champions League.
