Alisson Becker has revealed what his daughter made of his decision to shave off his trademark beard, which has been receiving mixed reviews from Liverpool fans.

The Brazilian debuted his clean-shaven look when reporting for the Reds’ 2024/25 team photo last week. Alexis Mac Allister was among those left looking on in amazement, with the goalkeeper looking a completely different man after his trim.

Having missed the wins over Bournemouth and West Ham through injury, Alisson’s new look got its first matchday run-out on Saturday against Wolves. It couldn’t quite help him to a clean sheet, although he certainly can’t be blamed for the calamitous goal the Reds conceded in their 2-1 win.

New, behind-the-scenes footage from the team photo has now shown some of his other Liverpool teammates seeing his new look for the first time. In a clip shared by the club, Dominik Szoboszlai is seen touching his teammate’s face almost in wonder.

Revealing what the reaction has been in the Alisson household to the new look, the goalkeeper told Szoboszlai: “My daughter is saying ‘you are now my brother! Daddy looks like a kid!’”

The 31-year-old certainly took Liverpool fans by surprise, with supporters having become accustomed to him sporting a beard ever since he completed his move from Roma in 2018.

The clean-shaven look has been given the approval from plenty of fans, although some aren’t quite so convinced. One fan commented after seeing the new-look Alisson: "My day has been significantly ruined.”

"I don't like this at all folks," another said, with one concerned fan even sending a cautionary message for Arne Slot's side, asking: "Why did he shave his Aura? We're about to concede for fun."

The new look didn’t seem to have a detrimental effect at Wolves, although Alisson will come in for some bigger tests over the next few weeks. With Liverpool facing the likes of Chelsea, RB Leipzig and Arsenal in October, we’ll see whether shaving the beard has had a Samson-like effect.

Liverpool.com says: It is a little odd seeing Alisson without his beard – seeing how fascinated his teammates are with the clean-shaven look tells you all you need to know! Still, he is the best goalkeeper in the world, so he can do whatever he likes with his beard as far as we’re concerned!
