Milan had apparently agreed a deal to sign the Brazilian forward without the consent of coach Allegri, who did not want the player in his squad.

Allegri remains keen to sign a defensive midfielder, but Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani wants to bring in an attacking player after selling Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain.

Kaka remains linked with a loan move return to the San Siro, but his wage demands appear too steep for the former European champions.
