Unlike in Tuesday’s run, the racers encountered the full 4480m run which is comfortably the longest on the men’s circuit, and the Frenchman posted a time of 2 minutes, 34.62 seconds.

That was eight hundredths quicker than team-mate Adrien Theaux, with Austrian Klaus Kroell third, 11 seconds off Clarey’s pace.

Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal, who leads the discipline standings after the opening four races and was quickest on Tuesday, was fourth quickest after a run of 2:34.81.

Friday’s Super Combined is followed by Saturday’s downhill, won last year by the Swiss Beat Feuz but who is absent due to injury this season.

**UPDATE - There was no training on Thursday in Wengen or in Cortina d'Ampezzo, ahead of the women's World Cup downhill, due to adverse weather conditions **
