Alpine skiing -Dominant Hirscher takes slalom gold

ST MORITZ, Switzerland, Feb 19 (Reuters) - Favourite Marcel Hirscher of Austria provided a spectacular climax to the alpine skiing world championships by winning the men's slalom on Sunday to claim his second gold medal of the event. The trophy-laden Hirscher, who has won the last five overall World Cups and is firmly on course for a sixth title, led a one-two finish for the Austrians as Manuel Feller climbed from seventh after the first run to grab the silver medal. Felix Neureuther finished third after a blistering second leg lifted him on to the podium from 10th position after the first run, giving Germany their only medal of the championships. Hirscher, who also won Friday's giant slalom and finished runner-up in the combined event, propelled Austria to the top of the medals table with three gold, four silver and two bronze, ahead of host nation Switzerland.
