Austrian skier Max Franz hits a gate as he posts the fastest time during alpine skiing training for the Men's World Cup downhill in Lake Louise

A snowstorm had been expected early on Friday morning but it ran a few hours late, allowing the first two training sessions to take place.

But the adverse weather finally arrived, scuppering the last session.

Austria’s Max Franz had dominated the first run, with Aksel Lund Svindal second fastest.

The first run of the World Cup season will take place on Saturday afternoon (6.30pm UK time), with a super-G scheduled for Sunday.
