Tammy Abraham enjoyed a Roma debut to remember as Italian media lavished praise on the striker.

The English forward completed a £34m move from Chelsea last week and was thrust straight into the starting line-up by Jose Mourinho, who was also making his bow in the Roma dugout.

Abraham notched two assists and hit the crossbar as Roma beat Fiorentina 3-1 in an entertaining game that saw two red cards, including an early bath for Viola goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski after a foul on the new signing.

The 23-year-old was given a standing ovation from the Roma fans when substituted with 20 minutes to go, being replaced by Eldor Shomurodov.

Mourinho said after the game: "Shomu is very dangerous attacking the space, Tammy is more of a reference point, so even if he wasn’t tired at that stage, I would’ve made the substitution a few minutes later anyway."

Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport's report on the game was headlined with "It’s already Abraham's Roma".

The newspaper named Abraham man of the match alongside Jordan Veretout, who scored twice in the win.

It was a similar story La Gazzetta dello Sport, who wrote "Abraham unleashed" and also rated Abraham as the best player on the pitch with Veretout.
