Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow has left the door open for a move to Arsenal, describing the Gunners as “a nice club” and underlining his ambition to play at the highest level.

Current Arsenal back-up goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is being tipped to push for a transfer in search of more game time having been usurped by David Raya this season, playing just 11 matches. Bijlow - who has eight caps for the Netherlands - has consequently been linked with the Emirates Stadium.

He has also been connected with Liverpool, having seen Feyenoord boss Arne Slot make the flight over the North Sea to Merseyside. The Reds might see Caoimhin Kelleher leave this summer while third-choice Adrian is out of contract next month.

Bijlow would come in at either Arsenal or Liverpool as second-choice, despite his 143 appearances for his boyhood club. The shot-stopper has refused to close the door on an exit and says he would be willing to consider an overseas switch.

“Those are two very nice clubs,” he told Voetbal Zone when asked of the speculation connecting him to Arsenal and Liverpool. “Of course it is always nice to be mentioned at big clubs.

“What I’m just saying: I’m ambitious. As long as I play for Feyenoord, I’ll give everything for that and first I just want to focus on the Dutch team.”

Bijlow is expected to make the final Netherlands squad for Euro 2024, meaning any decision on his future could be delayed until after the tournament. The ‘keeper has two years on his deal but failed to categorically commit his future to Feyenoord.

The 26-year-old added: “Would I stay at Feyenoord? You never know, do you? That’s football. You don’t know that. I’m ambitious, I’ve always said that.

“If the opportunity presents itself and a good club comes from abroad, I am open to it. I’ve always said that. As long as I am under contract with Feyenoord, that is never a punishment and I will give everything as long as I play there.”

Arsenal would likely only make a move for Bijlow if Ramsdale does indeed move on. The Gunners have reportedly placed a £30m price tag on the England international, which is thought to have put off potential suitors Newcastle United.
