Former Australian wrist-spinner Brad Hogg predicts Indian skipper Virat Kohli to score a hundred in the remaining two games of the ongoing Test series between India and England.

Virat Kohli is under extreme pressure for not scoring an international century since the last time he scored was in November 2019 against Bangladesh in a Test match. In the current series, the Indian skipper has accumulated 124 runs from five innings with the only half-century he got in his recent innings in Leeds.

Kohli could not convert his fifty into a hundred as pace bowler Ollie Robinson pitched a length ball outside off to induce the batsman edge and England skipper Joe Root took a comfortable catch at the first slip.

However, Hogg is of the opinion that Kohli made some adjustments to his batting style in his last innings and asked his critics to watch out for him to a big score.

“I am predicting that Virat Kohli will score a hundred somewhere along the line. I just think he has realized what difference was there in his technique two years ago from what it is now. I just saw in the final innings that there were slight adjustments in the way he set up.

“When Virat Kohli gets in the right, he doesn’t take time to turn it around. So for me, watch out for a big score from Virat Kohli,” Hogg asserted on his YouTube channel.

Kohli took over as India’s Test captain in 2015 after MS Dhoni retired from the oldest format of the game. Under his leadership, India maintained to retain their No.1 ranked status in ICC Test rankings for close to four years and won their first Test series on Australian soil in 2018/19.

Hogg said that Kohli imposes himself on the opposition and that makes teams like Australia and England fear him.

“I think Virat Kohli is a very good skipper. I think he is a skipper that Australia and England fear. He just imposes himself on the opposition. We have had just one loss here so this is where you start asking questions.

“What sets good leaders apart from mediocre leaders is the way that they come back from adversity. But I know England fear Virat Kohli by the way he imposes himself in the middle,” Hogg said.

Virat Kohli took over India’s captaincy from Dhoni in all formats after the latter stepped down from the role in 2017.
