Amanda Nunes Plans to Wait for Ronda Rousey's UFC Return

Amanda Nunes Locked on Ronda Rousey for First UFC Title Defense

Fresh off the biggest win over her career over Miesha Tate at UFC 200 to capture the women's bantamweight title, Amanda Nunes is hoping for an even bigger fight in her first title defense.

“The Lioness” dominated Tate, earning a first-round submission win on July 9, and now she has her eyes set on the former champion Ronda Rousey.

“I look for the biggest fight of my career right now,” she said on this week's edition of UFC Tonight. “I think the only one is Ronda Rousey. I hope she can come back and we can do this and make all the fans happy.”

Rousey last fought at UFC 193 in November, relinquishing the 135-pound title to Holly Holm after absorbing a head-kick that left her unconscious in the second round. She's made no indication of when she plans to return to the Octagon, but Nunes is willing to wait.

“It for sure is going to be a huge event, a huge card for women’s MMA. I wish Ronda Rousey comes back and we can make this happen. I’ll wait for her,” she said. “Ronda Rousey, let’s go. Let’s do this. I wait for you.”
