LEIF Davis has issued a farewell message to "amazing club" Cherries after his loan spell came to an end.

The left-back spent the 2021-22 campaign on the south coast, during a temporary stay from Leeds United.

The 22-year-old spent much of the season playing second fiddle to Jordan Zemura, but did rack up 15 appearances for the club in league and cup, helping Cherries clinch promotion back to the Premier League.

Cherries did have an option to sign Davis on a permanent basis following the end of his loan spell, but opted against it and the defender has now headed back up north.

Taking to social media, Newcastle-born Davis wrote: "2021-22 season (done). Would just like to say thank you to the players, staff and the fans for welcoming me to such an amazing club.

"A season full of ups and downs but a season to remember.

"Would like to wish you all the best in the future and hopefully see you all very soon.

"Thank you AFC Bournemouth. UTC."
