Arsenal hold an interest in Paris Saint-Germain youngster Warren Zaire-Emery and hope to completely change his ‘untransferable’ tag, according to a report.

Arsenal have just lost out on Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea. The winger has gone to Stamford Bridge on a long-term contract, with the move costing Chelsea an initial £62million, plus £26m in add-ons. But rather than beat themselves up about the transfer miss, Arsenal are already looking at alternative signings.

And they could complete a form of transfer revenge by raiding Chelsea for England international Raheem Sterling. Graham Potter’s side will apparently ‘listen to offers’ for Sterling this month, which could see Arsenal try their luck with a bid.

And now, the Gunners are being linked with PSG’s Zaire-Emery. He is a 16-year-old central midfielder who is already part of the PSG first team, having made nine senior appearances so far.

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, several clubs are monitoring Zaire-Emery’s situation and are interested in landing him, should he become available. Among the potential suitors are Arsenal.

While sporting director Edu would love to sign the teenage wonderkid this month, a bid is more likely to be made in the summer.

PSG staff rate Zaire-Emery incredibly highly. Due to this, he has been given an ‘untransferable’ tag by the Ligue 1 giants. But Arsenal want to ruin this stance by taking him to the Emirates.

Of course, the only way Arsenal can do this is by paying over the odds for him. But given his massive potential, this might just be worth it.

Arsenal land on PSG midfielder as new target

Mikel Arteta has been looking for a new midfielder for some time now. He told Edu to make three bids for Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz in summer 2022, but all of these were pushed back.

Since then, Arsenal have turned their attention back to long-term target Youri Tielemans. The Belgian is available for a cut-price fee this month after running down his Leicester contract.

However, recent reports suggest Edu has been left shocked by Tielemans’ wage demands, putting a move in doubt.

As he is far younger and boasts much less experience, Zaire-Emery would not ask for as much money as Tielemans. Arsenal signing him would also represent a great move for the future, as the France U18 international will surely have a big impact on European football in the future.

But Arsenal will have to wait for several years before Zaire-Emery develops into a player worthy of featuring regularly. As such, Arteta and Edu should probably pursue midfielders with more experience.

Capturing Declan Rice from West Ham would be a brilliant piece of business. He is already a top performer in both the Premier League and on the international stage.

Previously, Arsenal would not have been able to get near his price tag. West Ham have set this as high as £100m-150m in the past.

But as Rice’s contract expires in summer 2024, the Irons will have to lower their demands. And this could see the all-action midfielder fall into Arsenal’s price range.

The only trouble is them beating Rice’s other suitors to the deal. He is also on the radars of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have begun talks over a forgotten player’s exit, according to reports.
