Freeman's relationship with coach Greg Schiano is reportedly irreparable, and the trade deadline is Oct. 29. Schiano revealed last week why Freeman missed a team photo, further alienating the 25-year-old quarterback. Freeman admitted that he overslept.
Multiple executives from other NFL teams told CBS Sports they believe Schiano never endorsed Freeman as quarterback. Freeman was drafted in the first round a year before Schiano arrived at Tampa Bay from Rutgers.
Tampa Bay also drafted quarterback Mike Glennon in the third round of this year's draft and is seen as "Schiano's guy" within the Buccaneers' organization.
Freeman has shown flashes of ability but has been inconsistent. The Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders could be among the teams interested in upgrading their quarterback position.
Freeman set most of Tampa Bay's single-season quarterback marks a year ago. He threw for 4,065 yards with 27 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Through his first four years in the league, he has more passing yards, touchdowns and fewer interceptions than Joe Montana and John Elway and fewer interceptions than Peyton Manning. His four-year totals are 12,965 yards with 78 touchdowns and 63 interceptions. He added 210 yards with one touchdown and an interception last week.

The NFL sent a memo to teams warning them to stop sniping about opposing teams' players, Fox Sports reported Sunday.
Last week, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones accused the New York Giants of faking injuries and San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh criticized Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews for his out-of-bounds hit on quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
The memo stated the NFL would discipline teams for "conduct detrimental to the league" if such talk continues, according to the report.
