Ander Herrera admits his Manchester United future is uncertain

Ander Herrera has admitted his future at Manchester United is uncertain.

The Spain midfielder wants to stay at Old Trafford but is currently involved in a contract stand-off with the club, who are so far refusing to meet his wage demands.

Herrera, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season and Paris St-Germain are monitoring his situation.

“It is logical (to be linked with other clubs) when you have three months of contract (left),” he told El Periodico.

“I already knew something was going to come out. I take it as normal, I focus on playing football in the month-and-a-half (of the season) that remains.

“The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and if you talk to another club for my departure.

“I do not go crazy with what will happen in four months, so I do not know if my stage is over.

“I enjoy being at the biggest club in England, the fans love me, they have treated me phenomenally and my duty is to listen to them, although I honestly do not know what is going to happen.”

United striker Romelu Lukaku has hit back at those who have questioned his mobility by claiming he is the fastest player at the club.

Talking to United’s official Instagram account, Lukaku raised his hand when asked in a message from a fan who was the quickest player at Old Trafford before adding, with a smile: “And people call me slow!”

Nemanja Matic has become the latest United player to join the clamour for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to be appointed manager on a permanent basis, and also wants the backroom staff compromising Mike Phelan, Michael Carrick, Kieran McKenna and Mark Dempsey to stay.

“I think he is a great manager," Matic said. "But you have to say also that with Mike, Michael and Kieran, they work very well together. They work as a team. It is not only Ole. "There are people behind him who help us. I will be happy if he stays, and I hope he will.”

Meanwhile, United’s first team fitness coach, Gary Walker, is leaving the club in order to take up a new role with Major League Soccer franchise FC Cincinnati in the US.

Walker has spent the past 11 years at Old Trafford, initially as a sports scientist before becoming the club’s head of strength and conditioning.

All good things must come to an end,” Walker tweeted on Monday. “After 11 years, the time has come to leave this great club. I’ve had some amazing experiences @ManUtd and made some incredible friends and memories.

“A huge thank you to all of the managers, staff and players that I have worked with

“I wish Ole (Gunnar Solskjaer) and the lads all the best for the end of the season and huge success in the future. And now onto the next challenge.....”
