Andor boss teases details of four time jumps in season two

Andor creator Tony Gilroy has teased details of the planned time jumps for season two of the Star Wars series.

The second outing will move things forward rapidly as it heads into the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with a number of jumps over the course of several years.

More specifically, there will be four time skips – each covering the space of a year – with Gilroy explaining that they are telling the story "without doing any of the awkward exposition".

"That's the bar we set, and that's the game we're playing," he told Entertainment Weekly's Dagobah Dispatch podcast.

"We think we figured out how to do it. [We have] a responsibility to the characters we've set up and launched into this world and their trajectories. Our responsibility is to bring it home efficiently. But mostly, it's to pay off emotionally and stick the landing."

Back in March, star Diego Luna – who plays rebel Cassian Andor on the series – opened up about the show coming to an end with season two, admitting it is "important for [his] mental health".

"This is the last season for Andor,” he told Variety. "It is just a two-season show, which is really important for my mental health. But knowing this is the end, I want to enjoy it and get the best out of this experience."

Luna continued: "What this character does in Rogue One is quite remarkable, and what we are building shows what needs to happen in someone's life to be willing to sacrifice everything.

"For me, this has always been a story where the people bringing change, the ones you can call heroes, are just regular people doing extraordinary things."

Andor is streaming on Disney+.
