Andrew Ikefe eyes top three finish with Niger Tornadoes

The national side and Sai Masu Gida boys will take part in the upcoming Nigeria's topflight pre-season championship billed to hold in Kano

Andrew Ikefe is eyeing a top three finish with Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season.

Abubakar Bala's men ended their first round campaign in the fourth position and the defender insists he is enjoying life with the Ikon Allah boys since joining from Katsina United.

"It was an awesome and great experience playing for Niger Tornadoes," Ikefe told Goal.

"It was a surprise to everybody. People never believe Tornadoes will finish the first round in the top four.

"We are the talk of the town as everyone is calling Tornadoes seeing our position on the table.

"I'm very happy with our progress and I have no regret joining the team despite we struggled at the beginning of the season.

"For the second round, I know it is going to be huge for us. We are aiming to get some away points and finish in the top three to pick a continental ticket.

"It is a plus for us. Everyone in Minna is celebrating us now and we the players can walk with our shoulders' high.

"If not for some home draws, we could have been in the second or third position but gradually we will realize our aspiration."
