Andrew Shaw of the Montreal Canadiens was suspended three preseason games for a dangerous hit. On Thursday, in the season opener, he likely earned himself another ban.

As the final seconds ticked off during the Canadiens’ 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres, Shaw, who scored Montreal’s fourth goal minutes earlier, decided it was necessary to slew-foot Johan Larsson of the Buffalo Sabres.

The move didn’t go unnoticed by officials who gave Shaw a match penalty as time expired. Given his recent suspension history, we’re betting on the punishment being games rather than a hit to his wallet.
