Ange Postecoglou usually isn't one to mince his words.

However, even the Australian has his moments it seems.

The former Celtic manager was speaking to the media yesterday to preview Tottenham's Premier League match against West Ham tonight.

And the 58-year-old was embarrassed by his own words, as he left the assembled media in hysterics.

Spurs have gone four games without a win after a flying start to the campaign. However, they did earn a stunning 3-3 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.

When discussing that game and how it gave him plenty of encouragement, he explained it by using the analogy regarding 'panning for gold'.

And it was here that Postecoglou embraced his full David Brent mode, eventually being cringed out by his own words.

He said: "When you're panning for gold, there's a lot of dirt there but you're just looking for that little speck.

"We've got quite a few specks of gold that I could show the players after the game and say 'You know what, if we keep digging here, we'll get some nuggets eventually."

Stopping, and with a big smile on his face he began to laugh.

With his head in his hands, he says: "Jesus. I can't believe I said that. Sorry."

Spurs currently sit fifth in the Premier League on 27 points. They trail Man City in the top four by just three points.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere at Celtic Park has been branded 'crap' by a former Hibernian striker.

Tam McManus has blasted the atmosphere - or lack of - after Brendan Rodgers' men thumped his former side last night.

His comments come amid the absence of the Green Brigade at Celtic games.

The ultras group is currently suspended from attending both home and away matches while an ongoing dispute with the club's board is resolved.
