Ange Postecoglou issues Tottenham January transfer update and drops Yang Min-hyeok hint
Ange Postecoglou has revealed that Tottenham are "working hard" to add to their squad in the January transfer market. Spurs are incredibly short on experienced first-team players at present following an injury crisis at Hotspur Way.
Tottenham have a real lack of options in defence as Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie are all currently in the treatment room. First-choice goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is also out and not expected to return until the end of February.
Quick movers in the winter market 12 months ago after clinching deals for Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner, Spurs supporters are hopeful that the club can bolster the squad over the coming weeks with some big games on the horizon. Postecoglou knows how difficult it is to operate in the January market and he has outlined the importance of not panicking and bringing in players who are not going to be a suitable fit.

"It's not a matter of pushing, but I think, the club are working hard to try and sort of get some help for the playing group," he said in his pre-match press conference. "It’s no secret we need to bolster our numbers up a little bit, so the club's working hard on that.
"Obviously January is not an easy month, we understand it's not an easy time to bring people in particularly quickly and at the same time we still want to make sure we do what we think is the best thing for us rather than sort of just panic and bring people in who aren’t going to be a suitable fit."
On whether a new signing is imminent, he added: "I don't know. Could be imminent, could not be imminent."
Yang Min-hyeok is now officially a Tottenham player after it was confirmed at the end of July that he would officially join the north London club from Gangwon FC on January 1. Even though Spurs have a real lack of options at present, Postecoglou has indicated that the plan for the new player is just to "let him settle" as he tries to adapt to life in a new country.
"No real plan at the moment. Just let him settle," he said. "He is still very young and has come in from the other side of the world where the level of competition is nowhere near what he is going to face here. We will just give him time to adapt.
"It helps that Sonny is here and kind of helps him around when he is at the club and outside the club. We are just trying to get him settled early and give him the chance to settle in. No real plan, we will just take it as it goes with him and see how he settles in."
