The next four games will ultimately prove decisive in whether or not Ange Postecoglou remains in charge of Tottenham. Following defeat to Leicester City, which was their fourth consecutive Premier League loss, Postecoglou appears under immense pressure to save his job.

As of Monday, football.london understands the club are sticking by Postecoglou for now, at least, given the injury crisis currently plaguing his squad. Just when the Spurs boss likely thought it could not get much worse, James Maddison failed a late fitness test while issues for Pape Matar Sarr and Richarlison also became clear.

"He was feeling his groin mate," Postecoglou said of the Brazilian striker's early substitution. "He should have come off at half-time, but he wanted to give another 10 minutes. I could see he wasn’t running well, so that is why I took him off. Pape Sarr shouldn't have played today. He obviously wasn't fit."

Sarr and Richarlison are now clearly at risk of joining the injury list, while Yves Bissouma remained an unused substitute, which suggests he was not fit either. With Dominic Solanke unavailable for the next few weeks and four defenders still out, issues in midfield is the last thing Postecoglou needs.

Having signed a new goalkeeper earlier in the window, it could be argued that an addition in every other department would immediately improve the squad. At least one arriving in the next seven days is the hope with the club trying to do exactly that, as football.london understands.

Assuming a new signing is brought in, Postecoglou may be set for a final lifeline to prove he is the right man for Spurs with the return of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to also come as a huge boost as well. Romero resumed team training before the win at Hoffenheim while Van de Ven is on track to return this week.

The likes of Solanke, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario appear unable to help Postecoglou over the next four crucial games, which start with a Europa League clash against Elfsborg. A trip to Brentford in the Premier League follows that before two decisive cup ties are on the agenda against Liverpool and Aston Villa, respectively. The latter two fixtures in particular will likely decide what the decision ends up being from Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
