Ange Postecoglou in Scotland return as Hearts announce glamour Tottenham Hotspur friendly

Ange Postecoglou will return to Scotland this summer with his Tottenham side to play Hearts in a pre-season friendly.

The glamour tie will play a part of the Jambos' 150th anniversary celebrations and is a nod to a legend of both clubs, Dave Mackay. All-action Mackay was part of the Hearts side that won the league in 1957-58 and after signing for Spurs went on to write his name into their folklore also.

The sides met in a centenary match in 1974, set up by Mackay, and so the Tynecastle club saw it fitting to repeat that this year. The clash will take place in Gorgie on Wednesday July 17 with a 7pm kick-off, and the Jam Tarts say they will announce ticketing information in due course.

It marks a return to the country for Postecoglou who left Celtic for Tottenham last summer and had a strong first season in charge, taking them from eighth in the Premier League the year before he came in to a respectable fifth place.

The Aussie returns to the venue where he took charge of his first league game in Scotland and it wasn't a happy start. The Hoops went down 2-1 with John Souttar scoring a late winner for the home side and that was the first of three defeats in Postecoglou's opening six games in charge before a remarkable recovery saw them sweep a double, followed by a treble the season after.
