The 2023/24 season has now officially come to an end for Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham team. Starting their campaign with a 3-2 friendly defeat against West Ham in Perth back in July, Spurs brought down the curtain on the term with another defeat in Australia.

This time it was a penalty shootout loss at the hands of Newcastle United at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground. Bryan Gil was unfortunately the man to miss for Spurs as the game went to a shootout following a 1-1 draw after Alexander Isak had cancelled out James Maddison's first-half goal.

Now time for a number of the playing squad to get a well-earned breather, a handful of Tottenham players still have some football to play with Euro 2024 and the Copa America getting underway next month. Although the current season has only just come to an end, it won't be long at all until Spurs are back in Premier League action as August will be here before you know it.

Prior to the Lilywhites' first game of 2024/25, Postecoglou and Spurs have plenty to do in the summer transfer market as they bid to take the team to the next level. Quick movers in the market last summer with Guglielmo Vicario and Maddison signing on the dotted line ahead of pre-season, Tottenham fans will be hoping that a few new signings are in place ahead of the team jetting off to South Korea and Japan for their warm-up matches.

Following the conclusion of the team's post-season friendly against Newcastle, Postecoglou spoke to football.london in his press conference about the possibility of Tottenham moving quickly in the transfer market and if attack is viewed as a priority position for the team. Plans very much do appear to be in place and it is now about the football club putting them into action.

A few of the club's talented youngsters could also come into Postecoglou's thinking for next season. Players such as Tyrese Hall, Yago Santiago and Jamie Donley caught the eye in the Newcastle friendly and did their chances of featuring for the first team next term no harm at all.
